Summer. Winter. Landry Room. (2024/2025) taking the public laundry room as an observation point, to unfold video sketch about human states in laundry room. The public laundry room is an interstitial space, a temporary place with hidden spatial tensions, activating private activities and public mechanisms. People of different ages and genders wait, remain silent, repeat, rarely interacting, and the space is filled with an irregular symphony of washing machines. It records and observes the unspoken—those everyday gestures that quietly persist in the overlooked corners of the city.
The film was shot automatically using the SoundHunter film-device, which places 4 sound sensors in the public laundry room, and the device is able to analyse and automatically drive camera to capture the loudest directions. The footage were made six months apart, both on a single roll of double 8mm film without splitting, resulting in a naturally formed four-screen composition: summer laundry on the left, winter laundry on the right.
